GIVEAWAY + A Trip Down Memory Lane #NetflixKids #TBT

Netflix_Web_Logo

It’s time for a Throwback Thursday-Themed post and an awesome giveaway from Netflix!! I love seeing all my friends’ TBT posts on Facebook. Thank goodness I don’t have any digital copies of myself from the 80’s and 90’s. In the 90’s I was sporting the “BIG bangs” look. Yikes!! Did any of you do big bangs??

Today while my six year old was at school the younger two and I had a “throwback” morning as we streamed the classic Winnie the Pooh. I learned something new- it was produced in ’77, the year I was born! I forgot how many quotes I use from that precious classic on a regular basis:

“It’s windsday!”

“Excuse me please, bees!”

“I don’t mind the leaves that are leaving, it’s the leaves that are coming…”

My three year old has almost entirely missed Winnie the Pooh and Thomas the Tank Engine because his big brother is into the Wild Kratts and other popular shows. I loved watching him be swept away with stories of Winnie the Pooh! When the show was over he asked me to play Winnie the Pooh matching game, which we did while little brother took a nap. So fun!

memory game1This little guy reminds me of Christopher Robin. 🙂

Speaking of throwbacks, my husband and I had a Murder She Wrote binge a while back. Todd grew up watching the show with his great aunt and uncle every week, so it’s always a fun walk down memory lane for him to watch an episode. I think we made it through every season! I absolutely love Angela Lansbury… Did you know that you can stream Murder She Wrote on Netflix?

Giveaway!

Now time for the fun part! Netflix has given me a FREE three-month subscription code to pass on to one of my readers! It’s easy to enter; just follow the directions in the Rafflecopter form at the end of this post. (Scroll all the way down.) Hurry and enter; the giveaway ends Monday, April 21st!

Science Fair Inspiration for your Kiddos! #NetflixKids

Netflix_Web_Logo

My little guys are still too young to participate in science fairs, but they aren’t too young to ask lots of questions about how things work! Their curiosity is fun to experience, and they definitely keep me on my toes! I love to use Netflix as a tool to help answer some of their questions and inspire them to want to learn more. As I mentioned last month, Wild Kratts is their absolute favorite. They have memorized so many facts about animals and nature; I love it!

We recently streamed How Stuff Works, and my six-year-old son was riveted. Next we are going try How Do They Do It. I love knowing that my boys aren’t just being passively entertained when they watch a show like this. They are learning and being inspired to want to learn more!

My Favorite Things…

Off subject, but I just have to tell you that my husband and I have made some great discoveries in the Netflix classics section recently. Todd’s grandmother recently mentioned that her favorite movie is the old classic, Three Coins in the Fountain. We wanted to watch it the other night, and- bingo!- it was available for streaming through Netflix! Oh my goodness, it is simply the best old classic! The scenery, storyline, music- ahh… made us both want to visit Italy. We followed that up the next evening with Move Over, Darling. Another new favorite! It boasts an all-star cast including Doris Day, James Garner and Don Knotts.

Todd was in the mood for a murder mystery the other night, so we gave Endeavor a try. Love it! We are both impressed; this PBS Masterpiece Mystery doesn’t disappoint: intriguing storyline, excellent acting, beautiful soundtrack…check it out if you haven’t already!

What are some of your favorites on Netflix right now? I’d love to hear from you!

12 Movies to Beat the Flu Blues #NetflixKids

Netflix_Web_Logo

Tonight the three boys and I are home alone while daddy is on a work trip. Looking for a way to relax at the end of this busy week, we decided to give Hoodwinked Too! a try, and it was a huge hit. My oldest is only five, so we did skip a few scary parts, but the boys LOVED the movie, and the humor had them cracking up all evening. I love the ease of using Netflix- no running out to Red Box- it’s available right on our TV with Apple TV.

What are some of your favorites on Netflix right now? I’d love to hear from you!

With flu season upon us, it’s only a matter of time before the kids are home sick from school and siblings are being quarantined. The best cure for those sick day symptoms? Laughter. Netflix has compiled a list of hilarious titles that will turn sniffles into giggles. They’ve also pulled a few episodes featuring under-the-weather characters, showing your little kids they’re not the only ones who catch the occasional cold or have to visit the doctor.
